My name is basil, and I'm a gaming addict. :)
I'm also a terrible developer, but a much better designer, and I'm currently working on ANiMA RiSiNG, a 3D idle-sim MMORPG.
It is my baby, and I've been working on it for almost 2 years now.
ANiMA is inspired by OSRS, WoW Vanilla, Witcher, Dragon Age, MtG, and, to a lesser extent casual games like Stardew & even Farmville.
Ultimately, my goal is to create something RPG players will love & can engage with for any amount of time, whether that be for a few minutes or a few hours. Hence why ANiMA is idle. (Realistically, I hate social media, and so do all of my friends, so I decided to build a better downtime app alternative for gamers...) (Yes, it's mobile-first.)
Further, I really want to push idle gaming to its limits & explore new novel ways to blend & bend genres to create something unique, as I think idle gaming can be something much more than it currently is.
Lastly, I really despise what has happened to the industry since the acceleration of pay-to-win monetization tactics in the early 2010's. From loot boxes to XP boosts to never-ending MMOs that are solely focused on speedrunning late-game activities, such endless dailies & unattainable gearing that will just get phased out in the next patch (you know who you are), I hate it all. So, a big goal of mine is to create something that:
1) Has an end (all good things must come to an end!)
2) Can't be bought & must be earned (no pay-to-win!)
3) Has a meaningful leveling experience (with player specialization & story!)
4) Avoids ads & other monetization gloat (game integrity above all else!)
5) Shares financial upside with players (let's players feel their impact!)
